The Outdoor Council of Australia (OCA) offers comprehensive   representation for the outdoor industry in Australia. The outdoor   industry includes a diverse group of constituents, including organisations and individuals that use outdoor adventure activities for the purpose of recreation, education, adventure tourism, and personal or corporate development.

Hence, the Outdoor Council of Australia’s coverage includes commercial outdoor enterprises, not-for-profit church and community based clubs and associations and other organisations such as schools and universities which conduct outdoor education.

Further, OCA represents the guides, instructors, volunteer leaders, outdoor education teachers and adventure therapists associated with all of these enterprises and organisations.

OCA oversees the implementation of the National Outdoor Leader Registration Scheme (NOLRS) which has been in operation for just over 3 years. Following feedback from individual leaders, government agencies, outdoor organisations and training providers, a review of all aspects of the NOLRS was conducted in 2006 and as a consequence a number of significant changes have been proposed. National consultation has been undertaken and the second version of NOLRS now needs to be finalized and launched, hence the Project Officer position. Information about NOLRS, the proposed changes and other relevant documents can be accessed from www.outdoorcouncil.asn.au.

The work to be undertaken to finalise the second version of NOLRS is detailed in the Schedule.Work may be undertaken part time from any location within Australia but needs to be completed within three months from the date of execution of a Contract. Preferably, the Project Officer will supply their own computer and associated office technology (eg. telephone, email) although this may be able to be supplied, depending on location.
