Sport and Recreation Training Package review (back to topics)
Draft components of the Training Package are loaded onto the online feedback register on the Service Skills Australia website. All qualifications are now available for review and comment, with 140 units of competency currently available for comment. Further units of competency will be added as they are developed. SSA are currently seeking feedback from both industry and RTO stakeholders on all draft training package components.
Validation workshops will take place shortly, and feedback from these workshops will feed into the review process.
To comment on the feedback register, users are required to be registered on the SSA website. All personal details will be kept confidential throughout the process. It is possible to view comments that others have made, but at no time will personal details be disclosed more>>
Industry perceptions of VET assessment (back to topics)
The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations on behalf of the National Quality Council Training Packages Standing Committee is undertaking an investigation into industry perceptions and expectations of VET assessment processes and outcomes. The project will investigate:
- Industry perceptions of vocational education and training (VET) assessment processes and outcomes
- Industry confidence in VET assessment processes and the factors affecting or influencing this confidence
- Industry expectations about what constitutes best practice in assessment including identifying examples of industry engagement in assessment
- Changes that would strengthen or improve assessment processes and lead to more robust vocational education and training outcomes

New laws for incorporated associations (back to topics)
The Office of Fair Trading is proposing changes to the laws regulating incorporated associations. The reforms will simplify many of the rules for small associations as well as ensuring greater financial transparency for associations whose annual turnover exceeds $200,000. There are over 35,000 incorporated associations in NSW, with interests ranging from small hobby groups to large sporting clubs and community service organisations. The proposed changes attempt to modernise the processes involved in running an association and improve the flexibility for meetings and office holders.

Improper use of raw eggs linked to food poisoning (back to topics)
Cooking eggs properly kills bacteria, but bacteria will survive in foods that are not cooked thoroughly. This is why you should be very careful if using raw eggs in food that will not be cooked. The NSWFA is the NSW government agency responsible for regulating food production and food safety throughout the state. The Authority is introducing a new Egg Food Safety Scheme which will ensure that eggs continue to be a safe food for NSW consumers.
