The Outdoor Education Group (OEG) has recently been awarded the prestigious Employer of the Year award at the annual SpArta Awards ceremony in the category of Vocational Education and Training, sponsored by Verve. Verve – Knowledge & Skills, is the industry training advisory board (ITAB) for the arts and culture and sport and recreation sectors in Victoria, Australia.
Verve's role is to be a key source of knowledge and skill development for these sectors and to act as a facilitator between government, industry and training providers.
The Teaching and Learning team at OEG work to develop staff in the field of Outdoor Education. By investing over $1.1m annually into staff training and the delivery of the Swinburne / OEG
Certificate IV and Diploma in Outdoor Recreation and Education, and providing a rigorous training program delivered throughout the year, the Teaching and Learning team are continually adding to the technical and facilitation skills of OEG educators.
In addition Simon Blake, a student currently completing the Diploma of Outdoor Recreation with Swinburne / OEG, won the award for the most Outstanding Vocational Student of the Year – Sports and Recreation. Simon is an outstanding student consistently demonstrating high achievement in facilitation, leadership and group management.
