Following feedback from individual leaders, government agencies, outdoor organisations and trianing providers, a review of all aspects of the NOLRS was conducted in 2006 and as a consequence a number of significant changes have been made to produce the second version of NOLRS or NOLRS MKII".
These changes are being implemented, are include:-
A number of new activity areas;
- Removal of some knowledge and skills requirements (or competencies) from the requirements for some activities or Registration Levels;
- Additional Registration Levels for some activity areas (eg. Instructor Registration Levels for bushwalking);
- Introduction of a range of "Restricted Guide" Registration Levels;
- Access to the Scheme from a range of training outcomes including the tertiary sector and commercial and not-for-profit training providers;
- Introdution of the concept of NOLRS Partnered Assessment Providers;
- Clarification of "currently requirements" for leaders entering the Scheme;
- Recognition within NOLRS of experienced" leaders (who have operated for more than six years at a particular Registration Level);
- Addition of minimum experience requirements for newly graduated leaders;
- Revised re-registration requirements.

- Abseiling (Artificial Surfaces)
- Abseiling (Natural Surfaces)
- Bushwalking
- Challenge Ropes Course (High Ropes)
- Challenge Ropes course (Low Ropes)
- Climbing (Artificial Surfaces)
NOLRS MKII introduces registration in the activity areas of

- On Road Cycle Touring
- Mountain Biking
- Rafting
- Surfing
- Canyoning
- Snorkelling
- Caving
- Four Wheel Driving
The OCA will contract a person to finalise and position NOLRS MKII inclusive of preparing the resources for launch of NOLRS MKII, and developing and positioning the Partnered Assessment Provider Initiative. |
