A record number of jetski users were asked to leave NSW waterways last year due to anti-social behaviour.
NSW Waterways Minister, Joe Tripodi, said 190 offenders were removed from the waterways in 2006, up from the 120 in 2005.
State Government boating officers plan to keep a close watch on NSW’s 33,000 registered jetski users, paying particular attention to anti-social or dangerous behaviour.
Last year boating officers conducted more than 42,000 spot-checks across the State, including on jetskis.
NSW Maritime says personal watercraft (PWC) includes Jet Skis, Waverunners and Sea Doos, and are considered a form of powerboat with similar regulations and laws.
To obtain a PWC Licence, or to upgrade an existing General Licence, you must make an appointment to attend a NSW Maritime office, or attend a Boating Safety Course and successfully answer additional licence test questions (fee applies).
All PWC must be registered if used on NSW waterways, with the registration numbers displayed on both sides of the craft.
