CHANGES TO NOLRS
NATIONAL OUTDOOR LEADER REGISTRATION SCHEME

The National Outdoor Leader Registration Scheme (NOLRS) has been available for over three years in some states and territories.  Following feedback from outdoor leaders and organisations, the Outdoor Council of Australia (OCA) has recently made changes to the NOLRS. These changes have been made for a variety of reasons to enhance the Scheme but primarily to widen the range of activities covered and to more easily cater for individuals that have been trained via pathways other than the Vocational Education and Training (VET) system.

The OCA is seeking feedback on the changes from current NOLRS leaders and other interested outdoor leaders. All documentation is available from the OCA's website at OCA.

A feedback Form is also available at that website.  The best place to start is with the document entitled NOLRS V2 Overview & Summary of Changes. The relationship of this document with all other documents is explained.

Feedback is due by 30th March 2007.  It is hoped that the Scheme is more easily able to be introduced into other states and territories as a consequence of the changes.

Feedback is invited from ORIC members and those involved in the outdoor recreation industry in NSW. Contact details are on the Feedback Form.

Individuals that wish to be part of more detailed discussions (particularly for the new activity areas of climbing and cycling) should contact ORIC, who will pass on these Expressions of Interest to OCA, upon which more specific questions will be directed to those individuals.

OCA will also be notifying some of the larger non VET training organisations (eg. universities) and community-based organisations that deliver training (eg. ACIA) that may be interested in becomming NOLRS Preferred Assessment Providers.
