ORIC Membership Benefits

Membership provides both State and national representation with regulatory, government and associated bodies. Support of an active and professional board with the focus of all activities placed on the pursuit of member interests and the development and recognition of the Outdoor Recreation Industry. ORIC Board members head internal working-committees in key areas providing direct communication and information channels.

  • As the introduction of a National Accreditation Scheme moves towards fruition, a tiered accreditation scheme will be provided, better addressing the wider range of activities undertaken by members and supplementing the comprehensive organisational accreditation scheme currently in place. By doing so, access to NPWS and NSW Maritime H&D Licenses will be extended to include various levels of accreditation, not just full organisational accreditation.
  • Networking and professional development opportunities are available at discounted member rates. ORIC events include Annual Conference, workshops, seminars and training forums.
  • NOLRS and Peer Recognition Workshops are run periodically, and are an excellent way for members to maintain the professional and ethical nature of their business by ensuring their employees conform to industry standards.
  • It's Your Business and Research Seminars have been well supported forums to endorse and network with other like members and organisations.
  • Our Annual Conference is a vital event for industry professionals, educationalists and organisations. The 'Walk the Talk' : Putting into Practice 2006 Conference was a great success, attracting unprecedented attendance, proving more than just a comprehensive "bag of tricks", but a hands on experience that allowed a more thorough understanding of the nature of managing and facilitating an experience for groups. Networking with industry professionals, staying up to date in a changing industry, enhancing your business performance and keeping your knowledge of industry standards and guidelines current are what your can expect at this annual event.
  • Access to services that ensure and maintain the professional standard of the Outdoor Recreation Industry, through ORIC Organisational Accreditation and NARTA accreditation. Information packages may be obtained by calling the ORIC office and further information available under "Accreditation" button.
  • Communications include a regular industry Newsletter “The Link”, sent out electronically to all members, affiliated organisations and relevant recreational bodies. The Link carries feature articles and keeps members informed of developments within the Outdoor Recreation Industry, and specifically in relation to ORIC.
  • Our E-Bulletin provides information updates and is supplemented by direct member contact on matters of industry interest and importance.
    These information vehicles are available to members to get your message out to your peers and colleagues - event notification, company profile opportunities, interest items, buy/swap/sell, employment etc.
  • Electronic newsletters from affiliated organisations are readily available for distribution to members.
  • A copy of The Risk Management Document “Strategies for Risk Management in Outdoor & Experiential Learning (2nd edition, edited by T.Dickson & M.Tugwell) is provided to new members. This manual will be an invaluable tool in managing risk in your organisation.
