The Annual ORIC Industry Awards acknowledge and recognise those
exceptional achievers, both individuals and organisations, who have made a
valuable contribution to the outdoor community and/or industry
TOM CARR-BOYD MEMORIAL AWARD
Background Information
At 22 years of age, Tom's life ;was tragically cut short whilst back-country skiing with his elder brother in the Snowy Mountains in August 2008.
Tom was a fun-loving adventurer who made an instant imression on thos whose life he touched.
Whilst growing up, he was an active and keen participant in Wilderness Studies at blue Mountains Grammar School.
As a senior student he served as a leader of younger participants on numerous camping expeditions and in 2008, returned to the School to assist in the running of various outdoor pursuit programs. At the ocnclusion of every camp students were in awe of his outstanding ability to work in the outdoors and of course, his great sense of humour.
Individual with these qualities and characterics are an asset to any School or any outdoor recreation program. He will be greatly missed as not only a friend, but as an inspiring leader to all he encountered on his short but full path of life.
