The Annual ORIC Industry Awards acknowledge and recognise those exceptional achievers, both individuals and organisations, who have made a valuable contribution to the outdoor community and/or industry. Awards will be presented in four categories.
1. Contribution to the Industry (Individual)
The recipient of this Award will be a person who has shown themselves to be committed to the industry and/or wider outdoor recreation community, and to upholding the highest standards in their roles through their professionalism and involvement in the broader outdoor community. This award may include volunteers or employees.
Candidates may have achieved this through providing an exceptional contribution that has resulted in significant outcomes, or through demonstrating a devotion to an organisation and/or wider outdoor community beyond the requirements of their role.
In selecting the nominee, issues to consider include:-
- How has this individual contributed to the organisation and/or to the wider outdoor recreation industry and what is the significance of this contribution?
- What distinguishes this candidate from others as an industry high achiever?
2. Contribution to the Industry (Commercial)
This award recognises commercial organisations that have displayed outstanding/exemplary professionalism and have played a significant role in the outdoor community and/industry.
The nominated organisation may have achieved this through providing an exceptional contribution, which has resulted in significant outcomes.
In selecting the commercial operator issues to consider include:-
- How has this commercial operator contributed to the wider outdoor recreation industry and what is the significance of this contribution?
- What sets this business apart as the highest achiever of the industry?
3. Achievement in the Community (Organisation)
This category is open to organisations that have contributed significantly to the outdoor recreation community.
The nominated organisation may have achieved this through providing an exceptional contribution, which has resulted in significant outcomes, or through demonstrating commitment to the wider outdoor community beyond the requirements of the organisations role.
In selecting the nominated organisation, issues to consider include:-
- How has this organisation contributed to the wider outdoor recreation industry and what is the significance of this contribution?
- Why does this organisation stand out from other candidates as the highest achiever of the industry?
4. ORIC Environmental Award
This Award will recognise an organisation that has been outstanding in their attempts to practice, promote and educate for sustainable outdoor recreation.
Award nominees may have displayed this by:-
- Developing and implementing policies and procedures on minimal impact.
- Positive/beneficial results of this organisations action?
- Outstanding program developments.
- Developing a sustainable organisation – for example recycling, minimizing use of motor vehicles or reusing building materials.
In selecting the nominee, issues that to consider include:
- Why does this organisation transcend other candidates as the highest achiever of the industry? (Specific examples and accomplishments).
- What have been the positive (beneficial) results of this organisation’s action.
