INTEGRATING IT AND TECHNOLOGY INTO THE DAY TO DAY RUNNING OF YOUR OUTDOOR EDUCATION PROGRAM

Ian will display how he is utilising IT and technology to help with the practical day to day running of his outdoor ed program at Glengarry.

He will highlight the use of Intranet, memory map, PowerPoint, Podcasting, Video, and the new web based technologies of SlideShare, TeacherTube, YouTube and Google Earth Mashups.

Biography

Ian is an outdoor education teacher at Scots College Glengarry.

He has an interest in utilising IT in the administration, risk management, and briefing of participants in his outdoor program.

Ian has academic interests in the fields of sport and positive psychology and the synergy these fields have with outdoor education.

He completed his doctorate degree in 2002 where he studied the impact of adventure based training on the team cohesion and psychological skills development of elite athletes.

His present interests lie in teaching and developing experiences for high school students to learn to become “highly effective teenagers”.

In his spare time he loves to climb, paddle, ride his bike and rumble with his kids, and spend quality time with his wife Sue.
