THE POSITIVE EFFECTS OF OUTDOOR EDUCATION ON EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES pdf

Charlie will present research conducted by TAFE NSW Western Institute, on school aged outdoor programs in relation to employability skills and personal attributes.

He will provide some great data, both quantitative and qualitative, that could be used by all of the outdoor community, that supports the use of outdoor education as having positive effects on students.

Biography

Charlie Cross is currently employed by TAFE NSW Western Institute as a Head Teacher of Health and Recreation.

Charlie has 15 years experience in a variety of educational settings including secondary, TAFE and University sectors.

In 1992 he began working full time in the fitness industry and worked as personal trainer coordinator, technical manager at a number of health clubs including Bay Fitness in San Francisco. He worked in the fitness industry whilst completing post graduate qualifications in education and lecturing part time for Charles Sturt University and TAFE NSW.

He is extremely well respected member of the TAFE NSW educational community. He has worked for the TAFE NSW curriculum centre on numerous projects. He has been recognized with a TAFE NSW excellence in quality and Bronze award for the innovative TAFE Delivered Vocational Education and Training Outdoor Recreation program

One of his proudest achievements is the growth in outdoor recreation training opportunities his section has been able to deliver to rural and remote students in NSW.
